Check Copies &amp; Folders settings<\/strong><br>Go to <strong>Menu \u2192 Account Settings \u2192 Copies &amp; Folders<\/strong> and make sure \u201cPlace a copy in \u2192 Sent\u201d is enabled and points to the correct Sent folder. If it\u2019s pointing to a folder that doesn\u2019t exist or can\u2019t sync, Thunderbird will fail silently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. Large folders (10,000+ emails)<\/strong><br>If the account has over <strong>10,000 messages<\/strong>, Thunderbird may be trying to <strong>download and index all of them<\/strong>.<br>By default, IMAP accounts download <em>both<\/em> headers and full messages for offline use, which can create multi-gigabyte folders and cause:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sync delays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Timeouts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Folder corruption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Failure to copy messages into Sent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To check or prevent this, go to:<br><strong>Account Settings \u2192 Synchronization &amp; Storage<\/strong><br>Uncheck <strong>\u201cKeep messages for this account on this computer\u201d<\/strong> or limit sync to recent messages only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Large folders also greatly increase the chance of corruption. Keeping the Inbox and Sent folders under about <strong>10,000 messages each<\/strong> improves reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. Repair the Sent folder<\/strong><br>Right-click the <strong>Sent<\/strong> folder \u2192 <strong>Properties \u2192 Repair Folder<\/strong>.<br>This rebuilds its index file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. Check for SMTP or syncing errors<\/strong><br>If sending fails <em>even briefly<\/em>, Thunderbird never saves the Sent copy.<br>Look under <strong>Tools \u2192 Activity Manager<\/strong> for errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5. Antivirus interference<\/strong><br>Mail-scanning features in antivirus programs can block Thunderbird from writing the Sent copy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>6. Disk space or profile problems<\/strong><br>If the device is low on disk space \u2014 or the profile folder is very large \u2014 Thunderbird may fail to save messages.<br>Use <strong>File \u2192 Compact Folders<\/strong> to reclaim space.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.
