This image was shot using something called a lens baby.. its basically a lens attached to a bellows that snaps onto your lens mount of your camera... since the focus isnt set, nor the aperture nor the depth of field, you can push the lens away and tilt it off to the side and it will change your focal plane from 90 degrees perpendicular to however you want to play with it... it's like combining the movements of a view camera with a 35 mm camera...

just thought it was interesting....

you could almost get the same effect smearing vasaline on the outside edge of your front filter...
