Bob, depending on your purpose, there are at least three ways to go

1. As Jorge suggests, store it at home on flash drives/portable hard drives/DVDs. The basic objetive here is to backup your data for when your computer harddisk fails.
2. As Leo suggests, store it in the cloud--there are several free alternatives like Skydrive, Dropbox, etc., for storage outside your home, plus the ability to access it from anywhere.
3. Free photo-specific sites like Kodak, Shutterfly, Picasa, etc. Depending on your needs, you may find one better that the other. See attached url for one review of various services
