Didn't do that. Did quite a bit of work on simulation of terrain following radar though. I didn't use the Scheimpflug correction when I was designing camera and map systems either, although I was aware of it. We used big maps for our visual flight simulation, over 40 feet long.
If I remember correctly, the front principal plane of the lens should bisect the angle made by the focal plane and the film plane. The focal plane could even be at right angles to the film plane but the lens would have to have one heck of a field of view. I don't think I ever tried that back when I was playing with view cameras and press cameras.
