We've had wind both morning and evening, which shakes my tripod and flips my foam-board background sheets. So, I thought to try my ordinary soft light box with a stronger side light. Here's a photo of the set up, with the tripod minus camera out front, a Halogen desk lamp (red) in front facing in, and the two daylight bulbs through the sheets. The Halogen desk lamp adjusts in height also.

And here are a few shots with the added light shining in on the pen. Unretouched. Still no chatoyance, but better shots, I think. Maybe tomorrow morning i can get some outdoors.

and this one, I retouched only the glare off the plastic edges of the display stand. The pen is 'as is':
