Gary, you are in the same position I was a few months ago. I do not know of such a comparison except for the occasional buyers guide. What I did was to identify the features that are were essential and those that were optional for the kind of photography I am doing. I then talked to friends that are into photography up to their elbows actually using the cameras I had on my list. I ended up buying a Nikon D700 at the suggestion of Jamie. For what I am doing, it is the best money I have ever spent. (Thanks Jamie) My goal also was to buy once. One caveat, It is not a warm and fuzzy camera. If you are a point and shoot guy then the learning curve might be a consideration.
