..you have several Nikkor lenses left over from film days, but if so I was faced with a similar decision about 2 yrs. ago. Only 2 of my 7 Nikkors were new enough to have auto focus, but I had been waiting for an affordable full frame(FX format) dslr that would allow using the old lenses I already owned, and the D700 was the solution. It has been a great "machine" and allows using about any Nikon optic that I would ever want to own, and I certainly have used only a fraction of it's capabilities.
