...I suggest that you use manual settings rather than AUTO so that you can standardize future shoots for consistant and predictable results. Don't forget to write these setting down for:
1. color balance-probably tungsten
2. ISO-about 100~200
3. shutter speed- slow- ALWAYS requires tripod
4. f stop- f 8 or above if available- for depth of field
5. exposure compensation-for white background reflectance-use about +1/2~1 for best results
6. focal length- never use wide angle, step away and use longer focal lengths to zoom in and fill frame
