Most crafts and trades have had to clean up their vocabulary when working in a national and international market being more precise with the descriptions of products and processes. If you travel a lot you begin to notice different terms used for common tools and items used within your own country. When you expand into the international market many countries use totally different terms for tools, items, materials and processes. Getting everyone on the same page usually requires an ongoing effort by a trade organization or craft guild to create a dictionary of terms and descriptions that everyone adopts over time.
