The name of this chawan is "Lily" because I conceived a new form of foot for it.
I call this my "lily pad" foot. It's hard to tell from the photo, but in addition to the edge being curled up, it's actually undercut to make it stand out, as if it were in a pond. As far as I'm aware, ceramic artists, whose work in chawans and yunomi and guinomi I follow closely, don't use this foot form -- I'm guessing because it doesn't suit their tools and techniques.
