This is not an uncommon problem when in a school environment. Find a drill that is slightly larger then the major diameter of the threads, drill till the head spins, lift the jaw off and you will probably be able to unscrew the left over screw with your fingers. Yes, the edges will be sharp. Once the tension is released, the screw is easy to remove. If you have a local industrial supply house you can probably buy a hundred screws for a few bucks, nice to have on hand, or share...
