Turning

Cracks

do take a bit of preparation (examine, decide, then fill with penetrating epoxy) before you start spinning. PPE is also required. This basically applies for end-grain turning; I wouldn't be quite so brave turning a face-grain bowl from fractured wood, although I made bowls that cracked after roughing that I then "repaired" with epoxy before the final turning.
