Ron -- No offense was intended in my asking a question. I'm open minded enough to try to learn new ways of doing things. It's obvious you prefer your method. I had hoped you might be able to explain why you find it preferable. I've done both ways. Generally, I prefer to hold the drill bit in the tailstock. Partly, this is because I'm right-handed and its easier for me to put in and take out drill bits from a Jacobs chuck in that orientation. But, I've not noticed that I get better results one way or the other.
