I watched season 1 episode 4 of the Craftsman's Legacy this morning. Walter Arnold was the stone carver featured. Great wit and humor in his stories, really enjoyed the episode. But what stuck with me was his description of his work. Some of his work was described as classical music. You follow the laws of classical form and layout. Gargoyles were like jazz to him. Free flowing expression. I felt that's a great comparison for flat woodworking and woodturning. Woodturning is like jazz!
