Subject:
Avoiding Tearout, Lamp base question.

Barry Irby
I am making some lamps for my Granddaughters. Cherry. The bases are several pieces of board stacked and glued. The pieces were cut round on the bandsaw before stacking. The bottom piece basically has a round over and the second piece has a long flattish cove to a plateau for the spindle of the lamp.

I am using an Ellsworth gouge for most of it. Getting more tearout than I thought. Tried scraping. The tools are very sharp.

Any suggestions?
