I thought "good" Forstner bits could be started running on the rim??? Thus could be used to drill semicircles. I thought the tip was mostly an indicator to tell the operator where the center was, not to guide the bit.

So, if you drilled a say 1" hole through the blank and then came back a drilled out the center larger, say 1 1/4" or 1 1/2", whatever, would that not clean up the warp? Or would it not be accurate enough?
