I still have a large roughed out bowl from the auction in March, very thick wall. I've been afraid to work on it - the problem is the guy used what I consider a too-small tenon. When I saw that video I thought hey, maybe cut off the tenon and rout a big honkin' recess into the bottom. I probably even have a router bit that can cut a suitable dovetail. According to the specs on my Nova chucks, the recess will hold better than a tenon in that situation. I'll think on it - I might be able to align a template and cut the recess easier than cutting the recess between centers. I'll show it to you.
