I use a bench vise to hold my belt sander. A slightly worn 400 grit belt produces a polished edge that you simply cannot get on a grinder (even my Tormek!)
I freehand them, and I do all 4 skews at one time. Honing in between with a green DMT stone and a charged leather strop.
