Suppose you make a Mobius strip style cut, but this time start with a vertical cut 1/3 of the distance from the inside edge, proceed around to horizontal in the middle of the other side, continue back to vertical at the beginning, but now 2/3 of the distance from the inside edge. Unfold.

I can't create a mental image of this idea, so could easily be off base.
