Is there chocolate milk involved, Bill? Because that changes my answer from 8 to "12 to infinity". See first of all, I get my bagels from Paneras and they are HUGE. Since it would be asking to be choked to try to stuff that whole thing in my mouth my first cut would be along the edge (I am not sure how straight it would be but lets say for arguement's sake I made that cut straight). I always get choclate milk with my bagel. If I tried to dip even a half of it in my choclate milk it wouldn't fit so I would fold it in half. I would do the same with the other half a bagel and stack them on top of each other. Then, to make them bite size I would use my second to cuts on this. If I figured correctly that comes out to six pieces to a side for a total of 12. Of course, you didn't put a limit on how many times I could fold my half a bagel so I could try folding it over many times to get more pieces but I think there is a law of diminishing returns there. So, there is my answer "12 to infinity" depending on your bagel folding skill. By the way, I did a paper half a bagel to test and got 18. I didn't go any more than that because I thought that was the most I could fold my half bagel. Second by the way, don't eat you paper bagel as it is nasty. Take my word for it.
