Interestingly, however, the reduction in circumference of only about 6.2” could also include a split along the radius that widened to another 6 - 7” at the outer rim. If so, the tangential wood shrinkage could exceed 13” comprised of 6.2” of wood and about 7” of split at the outer rim circumference.
