I agree entirely that there’s not much point in re-saving for wraparound grain match in something like plain maple. I plan today to use some lumber with a distinctive grain. Most of my concern was with the safety(or lack thereof) about that last cut. But I feel very confident about what I just posted to use my TS sled with a clamp on each side of the kerf. As for leaving a tiny thin near-seperation, I don’t really see the purpose. What I thought was so clever about this two-sided groove method was the notion that the outside groove separates the box with perfect precision and fit.
