Subject:
Cutting Slabs from Tree Base for Tabletops

howard gorman
Just got a stump(Base) that has a very interesting shape for small table tops. Not sure of the species but it looks like maple. This is the first time I've done this so if I could get some help I would appreciate it -
Should I keep the stump whole until I am ready to work with it or should i cut the slabs now? I have Anchorseal, if I should slab it now, should I go through the stickering and let it air dry 1" per year? Should the cut faces of the slabs be coated and then stickered?
Thanks again
