Option #2 is generally a bit riskier than option #1. Its hard to say how much because so much depends on age, weight, and general health. Fatality rate for young to middle aged, healthy, trim people is something like 0.01% (I didn't look it up). For older people, unhealthy people, etc, it goes up a lot, into the single digit percentage at least.

Average all the people together and it comes out to 2% or so across the board.

Compare that to chances of complications of about one in a million or less with the shots. I'll take the shots any day.
