Draw knife

Tom Dunlap
My intro to drawknives was in about '65 at Boy Scout camp. We took down some aspen to make an entry gate for the road. The logs peeled easily because they were green and thin barked. All went well until I pulled the drawknife into my shin and cut myself. Off to the hospital for three stitches. I missed part of the Order of the Arrow ceremony at the campfire.

I bought a couple of drawknives from a WC member a few years ago. Good metal and they work for small stuff. I tried them on these logs and they weren't going to make it. Like I said up above the one I made from a 6" brush chipper knife worked but the joint pounding I was taking was brutal.
