I learned for the first time today..

...since the orange julius booth was a giant brown area of unknown to me (with orange lettering) that the claim to fame for the julius was to do just what you said - take the tart and acidic flavor away from citrus and make it more palatable for the mass market.

Reminds me of sweet wine.

"sir, can you recommend a good sweet wine". (i asked this years ago at the state store because my spouse doesn't like dry reds).

Orange julius sounds like the wines that are in the fridge at the liquor store (you're right about the line, though - my parents never had their plans laid out to retire early until they got the urge all at once, but they knew that keeping money aside would be useful. They were better at it than I am to some extent, but my kids, I guess, won't need to hide big red letters printed on the inside of their coats.

seems fitting - I share jim's sentiment of the optimism as a kid and somewhere that yielded entirely to hypervigilance.

I think the stamp fits me better than the coat back then. Maybe it was fortune telling.
