For one thing the Swedish government doctor who promoted that "plan" when asked if it was the right one said to ask him when it was over. They were well aware that there was no one Swedish plan and that later events could force a change. But it was represented as some fixed course that the Swedes had departed on and somehow were trying to convince the rest of world was the correct course. And it worked fine while it worked. Which is to say they got through the earlier part of the pandemic with lower economic damage, and at a medium level of mortality. That was a success, but the fake news was comparisons to other countries and the idea that Sweden was advocating for their approach as ideal elsewhere. International comparisons are bogus.
