I believe that the placebo effect is demonstrable, and has become more operative, in studies that focus on medications for pain, blood pressure and similar conditions. My expectation is that efficacy against a pathogen would be distinctly less subject to a placebo or nocebo.

But I changed my mind about this view twice before I went ahead and posted.
