I'm guessing at what you really want, but it seems like a VPN, Virtual Private Network, is it. It uses encryption, instead of dedicated wires, to create a private network. It's a little complicated to roll your own, but I've heard there are commercial solutions available these days for individuals. (My only experience was for corporate work-from-home solutions where the IT department did the heavy lifting.)

Another option would be a "WiFi Hotspot" for your group's use. It allows you to connect wifi devices to the data part of the cell phone network. We rented one on a vacation to Ireland and it was wonderful. Unfortunately I haven't found any comparable occasional heavy use plans in the US. (Plus the most capable devices all seem to be Huawei, which is on the US's s***-list right now.)
