Subject:
Gluing and Painting Eastern Aromatic Cedar

Barry Irby
A friend asked me to make a replacement for an exterior window sill that rotted. The sill was Fir and about 2 1/4" thick and 7" wide with the front edge and ends round.

I had a piece of aromatic Cedar (Juniperus Virginiana) big enough to do the job if I re-saw it and glue it together. So I did and glued it with Titebond III.

Now that I have done it I am wondering if the glue will hold on cedar? And Is there anything special about painting? Just good primer?
