I did the Timbor + Heat routine in maple I bought from Ellis in the Great Downsizing of his PA shop. Killed a bunch of the bugs in sugar maple, and the wood has been fine for 2 years. (Sheesh, THAT Long ago?)

But

I don't think I'd use Bora-Care on lumber to be used in furniture. Sure, it penetrates and kills the bugs, but then I'm left with what may be toxic wood unsuitable for use other than structural building, and risky to work as well.

I'd also be wary of Malathion residue for wood to be brought inside.
