I guess if he wants a perfect job, the beech is a risky bet. My thought was that a cabin up the mountains says rustic to me and if he can land the beech, milled into strip planks, he can somehow maneuver it tight enough to nail down. I recall plenty of flooring jobs -- with more respectable woods -- that I had to use cold chisels to lever the boards into place. I was just happy to have affordable materials that looked great when it was all over.
