..though my WB opinion isn't any better than anyone else's.
I've done shellac as a transition coat over oil and then sprayed target finishes over the shellac for years and never had an issue. The shellac makes for a nice tone, and the crosslinked target finishes (EM6000 types) haven't looked hazy and with crosslinker, they're very hard (much harder to buff and sand).
What I can vouch for is that if you spray them in a non-controlled area, the haze of overspray is dry before it lands and you can blow it away with a leaf blower or sweep it. Much different than finishes with a longer open time that land and cure slowly and become very difficult to get off of any innocent bystanding kids toys near the garage door.
