Subject:
Dehumidification drying wood questions....

Barry Irby
I got a residential dehumidifier yesterday for cheap. I have two 8/4 sweetgum bark edge planks I am trying to dry to make the head and footboards for a bed. The boards were as green as grass when I got them several weeks ago and have already lost about 16 lbs each just sitting in my basement. I seem to recall some discussion of drying lumber with a dehumidifier (or was it a heater).

Any suggestions? (I don't want to invest a lot in this in terms of a big insulated box, I don't have the space) I'm thinking along the lines of a tent. Any idea of how long it will take?
