Coves on a table saw *PIC*

If the cove is made by running the stock at an angle across the blade the resulting profile will be an ellipse, not a section of a circle. Does it matter? Probably not for a typical sized profile.

Shown is a 2 1/4" wide by 9/16" deep cove cut at about 55 degrees relative to the saw front, compared to a compass drawn 2 3/4" diameter circle. As you can see they are nearly the same.
