Barry, Don't automatically assume carbide tipped blades have a wide kerf. I have a 1" steel log blade I use for heavy rough cutting. I used it for resawing before I got my carbide-tipped Laguna Resew King. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Resew King's kerf is only about 2/3 as wide as the log blade. It is a very thin blade and the carbide tips are tiny.
