One advantage of the Bessy clamps is that they lie on the table flat. When gluing a panel, I lay a sheet of waxed paper on the bottom clamps, align the boards, then install the upper clamps. I can then tap individual boards in the panel until they are bottomed on the lower clamps prior to final tightening. Although the Bessy's won't stain the wood, it is very difficult to clean the glue out of the grooves of the clamps (DAMHIKT). It almost appears Titebond would work as a metal glue!
