Around here trusses are pretty cheap unless you compare it to wood cost alone and write off your time as a cost. If you're paying someone, trusses tend to be cheaper -- $80 to $100 per truss, delivered (we live 2 hours from the plant where I bought them, so free delivery is nothing to sneeze at).

Talk to the truss manufacturer about what you want - such as storage trusses. They should be able to build a truss that will match any other clear span method. For maximum weight bearing you can't beat internal posts or bearing walls with any clear span design.

Now you do want to find a truss supplier next to the railroad tracks - guess why :D
Those are the guys who will be the cheapest, you can tell by the quantity of wood they buy and how it gets delivered!
