I use Potassium Dichromate occasionally with no problems or issues. Let us remember that as with all things in life goes responsibility. Although considered hazardous in some circles, with proper handling and usage PD has a place in finishing where stains or dyes are not desired. I sometimes want a color from the wood itself without the use of colorants. I'm just helping the wood to show itself just as does ammonia when used for fuming. However, whenever I use PD I am always careful to wear protective equipment (i.e. gloves, long sleeves, plenty of ventilation, etc.). Just be sensible and safe.
