Interesting. What exactly are we looking at? What was the object and the spray?

It appears the finish has been lifted completely off. Is that bare wood showing in the circle? If its bare wood, it suggests the old finish on the table and the new spray have the same or similar solvent. Also suggests the finish is reversible fairly easily. That suggests either lacquer or shellac. Did the spray include either of these or lacquer thinner or alcohol?

Is that a commercially built table that is a few years old but maybe less than fifty? If so it's probably lacquer.

When you wipe over the area with a clean damp cloth or paper towel, does the color reappear and tend to blend?
