I don't know what size you plan. However, a Omicron Ellipsograph might be found. This was a staple for the old school graphics and even the astronomy/rocket industry. The pictured one is made for the drafting table. But much larger ones were made. The pictured one was designed to hold a extension beam (with cutter or pen) and the max size was 12" long for this model 17. Others could (unadapted)do a 36" long ellipse. They could be scaled up with a proper beam. This one was used for portrait frames and mats.
