It is a rare occasion that I don't joint a rip cut on the power jointer. It would not matter a bit if the rip cut was done with band saw or table saw.

Bill, you are actually supporting what I said - if the edge does not need to be glue ready, then a bandsaw will do as well as a table saw for rips.

Let's see how many here want a 'glue-ready' rip and, therefore, would plump for a table saw over a bandsaw.
