Nobody had a clue what you were needing to know before your last post.

The thickening with dust from the sander bag is something I do. However, rather than wiping if off the outside, I would have used a putty knife or thin mixing stick to squeegee it in, eventually sheering if off, but leaving a little above the joints to sand down with a belt sander.

Epoxy doesn't load abrasives, and can be sanded before it gets totally hard.

For the inside, if the tape worked great, but if you wait until the epoxy is about as hard as leather, it's pretty easy to filet or cut it off with a blade.
