We hired an exterminator to rid our industrial property of skunks. His solution was to set live traps (don't remember bait.) Once a skunk is caught the technician approached the trapped skunk holding a tarp hanging in front of him. He stated that the skunk will not normally spray unless he can discern his target. It apparently takes a skunk a few days to replenish his supply of spray. He is therefore judicious in its use. Moving slowly with a tarp confused the skunk and allowed the technician to ultimately place the tarp over the trap and transport the skunk without incident. He released them in a neighboring area to become someone else's problem.
