If you have been using a standard blade for years, chances are you don't need to go to carbide for better performance. A sharp blade should be an improvement, and the question is how long that lasts.

You can adjust the tracking on your saw so the blade rides in the middle of the tire on the top wheel, and as long as the blade is sharp, it should cut with little lead angle. The key point is that this works well with sharp blades, and that funny lead angles are frequently the result of dull blades. You can tweak the tracking to get the cutting angle as parallel to the miter slot as you can.

A 1/2" 3 TPI blade sounds like a good choice for your work. Sharpness is more important for resawing than for other cuts, so you could demote a blade when it no longer resaws well.

If you want to try a bimetal blade, the Olson All-pro bimetal blade is available in a 1/2" 3 TPI version with a 0.025" thickness. Other vendors' stock is thicker.
