Re: Are you sure it's metric?

Charlie - I started with a piece of 2x2” steel angle and a 90 degree wall stack boot (12” wide x 3 ¾” to a 6” round inlet), which I had to mailorder (couldn’t find a ductwork supply place near me – not to say that there isn’t one, but if there is it is fairly well hidden – and the size was apparently not stocked at the local Borgs). I trimmed a bit from the bottom lip, then riveted it to the horizontal leg of the angle. The top lip clips right on to the top of the chip chute. The steel angle is attached using bolts into the 2 threaded holes that are intended for the OEM dust collection hood (no longer made). I used a short offcut of 6” snaplock pipe, crimped at both ends, to connect the boot to my 6->5” adaptor (I still need to rivet and tape those joints). I don't have any pictures uploaded to a place that I can link to, but I can email some if can share your email address.

Looking at the pictures of your 22-650, the same approach should work for you (I think I can see those same mounting holes in the casting on the outfeed side of the planer).

If I can insert a small gloat in here, I got the new knives in and the thing works great – better surface on the wood, quieter, able to take a deeper cut, and less prone to snipe than my Dewalt lunchbox (of course, I didn’t risk injury to myself and a friend getting the Dewalt down into the basement…).
