My youngest son and I both collect guns - do target shoot, used to hunt but wife won't eat game & I won't shoot anything I don't eat. However it is hard for us to let loose of any gun. As others have said I doubt the shotgun will gain much more than inflation value in the near future as almost all are preserved. I think I would see what you are offered for the gun, then what it would cost to replace it with a hunting grade gun you really like. If there is enough difference to buy something else you want, then I would sell it and use the money. (Or keep it and buy the hunting gun anyway :>) ) I really think you could come out ahead selling it if others in your club want it badly enough. Side note: Another son of mine won a Benelli shotgun at a raffle about 3 months ago. It had a retail value estimated at $1400, he was going to sell it but ended up his wife loved it for skeet shooting so he lost it. (Don't let your wife see it)
