Chair repair

MIL has asked me to repair a stool for her. The tenons have shrunk and come unglued. I have seen products in the past that look like foil strips with teeth on them that you put around the tenon to help hold in place when you re glue it. Or could I just use Gorilla glue and let that expand and fill the gap? Stool is store-bought, and lack of the right tools do not make new rails an option.
