Woodworking Idea / Challenge

I've recently been looking around for an automatic watch winder, and I'm finding that these things are INCREDIBLY expensive. Most consist of a box with multiple DC motors that spin watch turrets at regular intervals in a direction that is pre-selectable by the type of watch being spun.

Some of these small units that wind... say 8 watches... are priced in the thousands of dollars.

I first thought that maybe Klockit or someone similar would have a mechanism for a winder... but thus far, I haven't found one.

Then, I started thinking about some type of device that is totally shop-built -- maybe with a cam on it that engages the watch stations once every 5-10 minutes.

So... my question is... has anyone seen mechanisms for winders or plans for shop-built alternatives? OR... anyone got a good idea to create one? Someone making custom winders could make a mint. I mean... search for yourself and look at the prices for a GOOD winder (not the Chinese imports).

Thanks!
