Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey
Morning Adrian,
The sled I mentioned was made for cross-cutting and takes the place of the miter gauge. Since this is not used for ripping, blade "drift" is not an issue. The 1/2" ply has an outside runner that is tight to the outside of the saw table and is then screwed to a HDPE strip that ride in the miter gauge slot. This locks the sled's alignment to eliminate any slop. The shed is then cut half way through and a fence is glued to the top at a precise 90°.
The 1/4" graduations to the left of the blade slot are set to easily cut cheeks and shoulders on tenons and to cut other small pieces that would be risky to hold by hand.
I also use wedges against the fence to cut angles in stock too small for chop or table saw.
PS: Tried to upload the pic, but some other image by some other person keeps popping up. When the haywire gets fixed I'll try again.
